Next item in the restoration. Control Panel Hinge! why you say??
Well the control panel itself was in pretty good shape on the game i bought but the hinge was not and i just could not live with this... Somebody had decided to paint it with gloss black paint by hand. urghhh nasty. And it was all gummed up making it hard to open and close to. A real pita to sort out, but needed to be done. I could not really get it powder coated after strip down either as it is a moving part. ![]() So, first step was to get it off and use some good old paint stripper on the paint/old power coat. ![]() Then i used a wire wheel on a drill to remove all the paint remnants ![]() ![]() Then primer ![]() ![]() and finally top coat of satin black, leave to harden for a week, then reinstall with nice new shiny chrome bolts and nuts. (The font decal of the cabinet i have left original as was too good to redo, even though the very top edge has alittle wear.) ![]() ![]() Edited by myPinballs - 30 Jan 2022 at 3:32pm |

On to the foot pedal unit.
First the pedal itself. Was rusty and painted with that horrible black paint by hand again, so stripped it down like the hinge ![]() ![]() ![]() Decided to repaint a more in keeping metallic silver /gun metal grey ![]() ![]() Next the foot pedal main brakes. This had suffered from rust over the years and was quite pitted in places where it obviously got wet from feet etc. A repowder coat here doesnt really help much as you are still left with the pitting and looks sh*tty!! So, out with the spray filler and car body filler ![]() ![]() Now leaving to harden alittle then will sand down again for a first coat of primer, then top coat in satin black again.

A few things got in the way with life & work but i am finally finishing my foot pedal restoration.
New switches fitted and all new nuts and bolts throughout. Cleaned up with spring with wire wool and elbow grease. Cleaned the pedal arm with wire wool then resprayed with the metallic silver paint i used for the foot pedal. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Now onto the last 2 pieces of rusty flaking nasty metal. The 2 metal mount pieces for the foot pedal.
steps: 1) Paint stripper and scraper 2) Drill with wire wheel 3) Filler primer x 2 4) Black top coat x 2 Also replaced 2 press in nuts that were rusted and ceased, one had a sheared bolt in it to ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by myPinballs - 27 Sep 2022 at 7:55pm |

A really nice bit of restoration on a classic of a driving Cab.
It's lovely to see them survive as nice as that. |

Foot Pedal Assembly completed and back in position. A real bizarre way they made this thing with the 2 extra metal brackets. Guess it was a cheaper way to do it.

The restoration is finished!! :)
I finished the foot pedal restore and also cleaned up both coin doors. New locks and a working coin mech. Currently set to 2 plays 50p! like the old days. Even gave the coin mech a clean up , ha ha A few pics of it all complete ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by myPinballs - 25 Jan 2023 at 5:29pm |

Now have to decide whether to keep it or sell it. I am moving house this year so may have to reduce the collection temporarily.
