Are there any good sites for EM machines in the UK? Are the prices on evilbay a good reflection of what a newb should expect to pay or are they massivly inflated like arcade cabs??Edited by OTTOTHEMADANDEVIL - 13 Apr 2014 at 1:25pm |

EM's, despite being older, seem to also remain cheaper
but condition is the main thing, obviously being older some have horrendous wear on the playfields - so unless you are a master with a paint gun best to avoid ... |

I wondered that as well but I guess being in the Pinball section it's mainly that he asks about
I don't know about pinball but I could see the older ones have limited play enjoyment which is why I've not bothered with one, older doesn't mean valuable but if there the ones you used to play then you would want them rather than new ones |

I have never been that into EM pinballs. I guess it's a case of 'you had to be there'. Where with old videogames I haven't played before I can, if they are good, get into them.

A good place to visit to play on a load of great EM's is the Dreamland expo in Margate. It's run by the top chaps at Pinball Parlour http://www.pinballparlour.co.uk/ who helped me with my Bally Knockout when it decided to self-terminate. They also sell machines too and are top blokes - highly recommended. Next year when the Dreamland rebuild is finished, they'll be moving in to bigger premises on site - can't wait!
Cheers, Johnny |

I love EM pins. Mine (William's Big Ben) was born before I was so no chance of playing that in the arcades!
As they are slower paced they have the benefit of being relaxing to play, so ideal late at night whereas the more modern pins would drive me nuts or cause a brain hemorrhage

Em are cool, but if you are only after 1 or 2 pins, I would always suggest a dmd first.

what does a DMD add to Gameplay? only some crappy video modes!
if you want something faster but don't like video mode's a alphanumeric is a better choice myself i prefer Solid state pins from the end 70's to mid 80's and some late 70's EM machines had them all, all top 20 dmd machines, very over hyped and over priced
