Problem CPS1 mirrored text and tiles or sprites

Hallo,

hier I have another tough one. CPS1 (3 Wonders) that has some of the text mirrored, some is upside down. It's messed up. It looks like an address issue to me or flip function? I have no ideea. It's my first CPS1 repair.

Anything helps.

I tried dumping the roms (HN62414P) as HN27C4000G and none of them match any romset... But the sprites look good and stable. I don't know what is wrong here.

A board ok I assume ?? Can you check the C Board ?? Also check the pal on the top left as that can cause this type of fault.

I Have a 3 wonders on the bench ready for me to look at , Maybe Sunday if I dont drink too much home brew !

I flashed another gal for that one on 1A and no difference at all. I don't know if the A, B or C has something. I don't have any other spare.
Pin 12 and 14 on pal@1A are HIGH. The replacement had the same outcome.... Maybe you can check yours?

Looks like a classic case of bad A01 on the motherboard or bad B-XX chip on the c board, maybe a loose pin if you're very lucky.

Agree with ace it does look like A board custom , hence why i asked if it can be checked. The one i have is faulty so cant test at minute.

Are the A boards interchangeble? I got one but it's not the same.

Yes, there is a short and a long version of the CPS1 A board and different revisions, but I think the only real difference is the CPU either 10Mhz or 12Mhz

It looks like the Problem is on the A board. The replacement has some tiles problem but text is ok. So that CPS A01 must be broken. Bad luck here.

Bottom 4 have some floating pins. Either they are not used or something is wrong. On the other A board also 4 rams have some floating pins.

Its triggered by the custom so probably that.

99% fake mate , They do work , well sometimes !

They aren't fake there's no such thing as a fake A board, a lot of them are CPS1.5 A boards with a bodged sound section though. Some how China got its hands on a load of CPS1.5 main boards even though they weren't used in many games.

Sorry ace I will change my statement , Not ' fake ' but not original / bodged to hell and sound absolutely shit. If they work.
