hi guys i’m trying to fix an arcade board no booting up but making some strange noises i’m a newbie to board repair but the ls74s201s get a bit hot is this normal ??

That's a schotty logic which is power hungry but faster compared to the LS version of logic,they normally run warmer.

Yes these do get very hot, I've seen some boards where people diy a heatsink on to them, but probably not needed.

I need a chip marked C104 for a century electronics Hunchback PCB or a donor board with one on. Thought I'd got one sorted but it never materialised unfortunately
