So I brought the pcbs from an online auction, the location was 100 miles away from where I live now, luckily I have my house for sale near there, so it gave me a good excuse to check on my house and visit family.

The location was a small industrial estate. I was greeted with a warm hand shake from the guy in charge of getting the unit empty. Basically it was an old operator that had made his money and was winding up the business. The guy I met was a bit upset he was going to be out of a job soon, whilst his boss was counting his millions.

Once I got through the door I noticed all the fruit machines ready to be sold/scrapped, as the owner hasn't got a gambling license anymore, he couldn't list them on ebay. I was took through to the back room where all the pcbs were laid out ready for me. Excitedly I loaded them in the car and went back in,as the guy said to have a look around to see if I wanted anything else. He led me up to the 2nd floor, which had monitors, fruit machine pcbs and loads of junk. I spotted a back door of a cab with a pcb on it, he said he'd include that in the deal, happy to see it was golden axe 2. There was a beaten up midway coindoor,a glass chase hq marquee, a few monitors, but only one decent 19 inch Hanty and a NOS 10 inch playchoice/megatech monitor and 3 more pcbs, so I grabbed them aswell. I then sat down and listened to the guy telling me how much stuff his boss told him to smash up in the late 90's, its still sad to hear, even though we all knew what went on. After exchanging numbers to keep in contact, I was on my way home, all warm, knowing these are saved from the same fate of all his older stuff. My personal favourite pickup from this raid is the pingpong pcb by konami, it's not a great game but one I'd like to own one day and it's not easy to find. Now to move house, get my stuff set up again, test and fix them.

Brilliant! Some really good boards there.

Did you have much competition in the auction?
