Williams Defender.

Previously restored by 'Egg'. Cab is in nice condition, with the odd scratch and scuff here and there.

Running a switcher and latest JROK board with Ken Falta harness. Original boardset, PSU, wiring etc are all complete and present AFAIK. Original marquee and bezel. CPO in very good condition, either NOS or repro, not sure.

Not WG original monitor. Samsung tube, Kortek chassis. Image is good.

New switching PSU fitted last. New 'zeroplay' joystick. New buttons (really nice ones). New teflon feet.

Bad points: Coin door is a bit bent out of shape. T-moulding is in good condition, but tacked on in a few places.

What's a fair asking price?

Thanks in advance.

Those Egg restorations are top notch...

Without the JROK you must be looking at £1,200 - £1,400 (forum price).

A JROK will set you back well over £200.

So maybe £1,400 - £1,600 with the JROK???

So basically it's a restored defender with repro harness, joystick, original non-working pcb set, replacement CRT and Jamma switcher running a JROK.

It's a nice looking cab, but £1400-£1600 is way OTT. The only defender that would be worth that much would be a HUO minty, all original example - signed by one of the vidkids gods.

£800-£1k would be a fair price. Yea the JROK does add a little value, but I would assume the pcB set is non- working so it's horses for courses. Even on ebay I think your max is about £1200 should you get lucky with the right buyer.

Whoops... my maths is wrong....

Stand by 1,000 to 1,200 without JROK but with would be 1,200 to 1,400. Doh.

A shell sold on the forum this week for £500 in 4 minutes!

Fuzzy hasnt said the joystick is a repro or that the original boards aren't working... so maybe need clarification on these. I have assumed the joystick is refurbed and the board is ok.

(I have a working boardset in mine but run a JROK for reliability).

I genuinely have £1,600 waiting for a signed HUO machine!

Thanks for the feedback, fellas.

The original harness is complete and in the machine - Ken's adaptor harness is connected to that to convert it to JAMMA for the JROK. Nothing's been butchered, 5 min job to disconnect it and return to original if required.

Boardset was working when last used, but as this was around 2 years ago, assume non-working now.

Zeroplay joystick is enhancement of existing joystick, not complete replacement.

Hopefully not, Russ, but it's an option at the moment.

Too many buttons and not enough joysticks for my liking! Wink

Yes, but only Stargate is really playable with the Defender CP, and that doesn't have an 'inviso' button.

The JROK also lets you play & switch between different ROM sets (for example, Defender Red ROMs, White ROMs, Green ROMs) and you can switch between 2 save RAMs for high scores - handy if you have friends coming round and they're better than you, and you don't want them to dominate your high score table!

The JROK may not be for 'purists', but it plays identically to the original board sets.

I went to a Defender players meeting recently and some of the world's best players were in attendance - none of them knew which machines were running original board sets and which were running JROKs.

No. Remember the Defender joystick is just a 2-way (up/down).
