Just seeing if anyone has any input or any support for this issue...

I'm just on with my HOTD,
I noticed a mesh effect in places that I feel it shouldn't.

From the beginning there is a pair of glasses on the table, on mine these have mesh lenses.
Also When you get struck, the blood on screen has a mesh/ dot like texture.
The first section of water on level one looks a bit like mesh.
I have a feeling it should not be like this.

So does anyone have the game and can confirm.

And if any one is familiar with model 2, or model 2c specifically, is this main board or rom board (eprom) issue?

Thanks

Cheers - that will be great.
In the mean time Im attempting a rom board swap on Sega Touring Cars

Tried to see videos on you tube, and it does look like a dot effect on the blood when you loose a life.
but the emulators don't seem to be perfect for this game.  Some textures are missing in the emulation version.  Then people are running it at different resolutions which screw what I am looking out for.

Had a look at some videos online, like you say with emulation, different res's and the difficulty in filming a CRT its really hard to tell. Although did find this vid of a HOTD with graphics glitch, sort of looks like a mesh made of dots, on many of the 3d areas.....

I'm pretty sure meshes are normal and that Model 2 didn't support true alpha channel transparencies so Sega would "cheat" and use meshes to simulate a semi-opaque surface. On a CRT which softens the images this is usually not too obvious, they used it for the shadow under the main car in Daytona for example.

Sega were quite keen on that method back then, quite a few Megadrive games used it and I think even the Saturn could only do transparencies in certain circumstances. The Model 3 and Dreamcast were the first bits of Sega hardware that could easily do alpha channeling.
