Applying a CPO for dummies needed

Does anyone have any links to vidz or sites that give a good overview of how to correctly apply a new CPO. I've got several to do and don't want to cock it up completely cos they are kinda hard to get again Several experts have kindly talked me thru the process but I still don't have a decent idea of how to do it end to end. I'm a visual kinda guy I guess...

I always start from the middle, by ripping out a strip in the middle to expose the adhesive, then work my way outward on both sides.

soapy water first on control panel, this will allow a slide. and as equites says start from the middle working towards the outer edges. hth.

I think the "starting in the middle" is sounding like a very good idea but I was wondering how useful the soapy water is against the range of adhesives that might be found? I've applied privacy film to glass before which had a tacky back even before the water was added, but then if you think of something like gaffer tape, I doubt you'd get much adhesion of the surface was wet.

What kinds of adhesives have you successfully used the soapy water technique on JB?

I've been told about the soap trick a few times before... But like TRM suggests, I'm wondering if all modern repros adhesive will take it.

I failed to grab the cp and marquee from the Xevious today (got distracted by something else but will do them tomorrow...

But in basic I expose enough horizontally to allow you to align button and/or joystick holes and indeed to align the edges are 90 degrees as your in hell if the cpo is wonky

From the initial buttons area I work up then down using a damp sponge to wipe a litle further each time. Bends are done in 1-3 pressures to avoid air bubbles the most tricky thing

I'm a bit unclear as to what the big deal is here? I did my Tempest one and didn't have a clue at the time. I just carefully peeled it off, lined it up (from no particular end IIRC) and just smoothed it on, either with my hand or a cloth and certainly no soap or anything like that! Gently and easy does it, bit by bit basically.

Thinking about it, I did the StarGate too and that held a lot of potential for going south as it was high gloss but it again was fine. I think the trick it to be as light as you can without getting bubbles initially so that you can lift it off (carefully) if it's not perfectly lined up. Once you're lined up, go for it. Again, gently does it.

I did the artwork on the sides of my Initial D while the sides were still on the cab. And on my own. That was fun and games but came out perfect! If this stuff was difficult then I assure you I'd have screwed one up by now. I have about as much patience as the proverbial bull in a China shop!!!
