Hi folks
I recently bought a Data East Dark Seal/Gates of Doom from a forum member about a month ago and was only able to test it this week (it had to be delivered to an address in the UK, and then taken in a car on a ferry to the Netherlands where I live). After powering it up and playing it I noticed that in 1 player mode there is an issue with disappearing sprites when the player takes damage. Maybe because it was in transit for a while the board has developed a fault.
Quick video from my phone;
I am thinking this is potentially a logic problem with the board where the player sprite is supposed to become translucent for a moment, this is achieved by rapidly making the player sprite flash and perhaps this is being done by TTL logic at hardware level. If there is a bad 74LS chip somewhere it may be that this rapid switching of the player sprite is not working. Strangely though, in two player mode if I chose the ninja as player 1 and the knight joins as player 2 the problem doesn't seem so bad.
Does anyone have any insight into this type of problem, and is there somewhere I can find the schematic for this board?
Cheers
Dave
