I was bored at work / needed some 'nice' feeling joysticks, so made some of these.

I have tried them out tonight on a cab running Bosconian and they seem to play nice. Got over 130k on my first go...

I'm sending one to 'Iron Hands' John Bud for trial this weekend. Let's see how strong they are?

ps - ALL parts (except microswitches) were made by my fair hands (oh, and CNC Mill / manual lathe)

yup big thanks to vic, i dont know why these jap sticks die so quickly in naomi cabs. but he has indeed agreed to give me a sample of his work. although im not 100% fit at the moment i will at least try to mount them for play. im hoping to give it some stick on borderdown, there are both fast moving full sweeps and twitchy moves involved as well. so it will get a good mix of moves. next up will be one of my faves zero gunner 2 this again will involve the use of small segments of the stick i.e. whilst straffing it will use the switches in a circular motion. this will show up any spacing whilst the actuator moves from 1 to another switch. both these games require precise movement at certain parts of the game. i have other sticks i could use/adapt but they dont look right in a naomi cab. but saying that a 45 year old, greying hippy sitting on a bar stool playing video games in a naomi, that doesnt look right either

Wow fantastic work Vic, maybe you should set yourself up as the UK RAM controls (without the sh*tty shipping issues)

DanP - Maybe?

It all depends on what stuff needs to be made I suppose?

I think the most wanted are Atari parts (SW stuff, BZ joysticks etc.)

I'm getting a 5 axis machine next month, so who knows?

big thanks to vic, the stick arrived today. it wont fit into the 1 player panel i have, this is because the fire button holes are too close to the joystick mounting plates. i do however have a blank panel that i will be using. although the cab being used will essentially be a dedicated cosmic smash, it will also have 1 extra button fitted to allow me to play shooters. in essence this cab will be my favoured naomi for shooters. the first impression i have of the stick is that it appears to be very sturdy. it has quite a short throw, a nice stiff spring and centres very well. its also smooth whilst running around the micro switches. hopefully i will have it fitted in the next couple of days. i have a spare 1 player loom that i will adapt to fit the stick. i guess its time to fire up the drill stand and get hole cutting. i was going to get an s plate welded onto the blank panel, but im now thinking i will mount it using counter sunk screws. mainly because i use bat tops on my sticks. which tend to increase the force of which i use on them. so im thinking 4 securing holes are better than 2. i will report back when part 1 is complete. and thanks again vic, they do feel very nice. cheers.
