Missile Command

Hi,

I am new to this forum so apologies if I have posted in the wrong place!

I have just obtained a working PCB for Missile Command and would like to build a replica arcade cabinet for it live in.

At the moment I have 2 main problems, although I'm sure i have lots more later!

1. Does anyone have a set of drawings that I could use to get dimensions for the cabinet?

2. Does anyone know where I might be able to get hold of a 4 12 inch trackball assembly?

I have seen places on the inter webs that sell the ball, replacement bearings, encoder pcbs and the rollers so if necessary I could try to build one from scratch, although I must admit i'm hoping to get an existing one as I think building one could be a bit tricky.

print off missile command

we know the height and depth so if you measure you print off and convert it to mm's you should be able to work the side panels out.

example but bad one if 1 inch is say 8 mill you can say ok its 40 inches from the bottom that the control panel starts to come out and 48 before it goes back in.

Upright/Standard Height 64.75 Width 25.25 Depth 32.75 inches

look at lots of front and side/front pictures.you should be able to workout the rest.

Do you know Google Sketchup? It's a free and simple to use 3D software. Gozer from over at KLOV has released lots of models of different videogame cabs...including Missile Command upright and cabaret:

He says the accuracy is within 1 inch.

You can use this to make your own plans. Just load the model into Google Sketchup, take the parts you need, print and measure them.

Those trackballs keep appearing on Ebay USA...keep your eyes open

Thanks for the info.

I think scaling it up might be the answer.

Just out of interest I found this on ebay MISSILE COMMAND Miniature Retro Arcade Model 1/12th Scale ( 311396444671 ).




I thought it looks pretty good and I could use your idea of scaling it up to produce a full size cabinet .




Now I just need to find a suitable atari 19" monitor and i'll be getting somewhere! I




f anyone has one suitable for missile command please let me know.

Sketchup is really easy to use.

Just play around with it for a while and you will find out

There are lots of tutorials out there, i.E. at Youtube you will find tons of videos.

If you want some specific measurements of anything, just shout. Happy to crack out the tape measure for you.
