Problem Sega system16B rom board: 171-5358 vs 171-5704

Hello,

Are these two rom boards interchangeble? On the 171-5704 there are some ICs and on the 171-5358 there are none, apart from the roms. Motherboard is 171-5357 (Golden Axe).

Or Can you change the rom boards on motherboards , Yes you can. Depends on 68000 though if using original. If converted its easier.

Cheers. Actually both. I got an golden axe with an empty battery. I managed to burn 2 decrypted roms and works great.
Ofcorse I now want the make a multi board for it and only have the schematics from the 5358 board. I did plug an rom board from an altered beast bootleg and it worked too. I'll have to dig a little more into these boards. I know there are other multi kits available but I like my own stuff.

I dont blame you , good way to learn. I have never tried and think its above my capabilities sadly.

I still try to understand why would one pay more for an board with an CPU brick that will die in the next years.
