Sequels that were worse than the originals

Games Sequels are a case where they should be better with advanced Tech yet many still aren't referencing the G-Loc Motion cab which I really like style of but how many have got that game in there collection over Afterburner, Problem is just because hardware has improved it doesn't mean the game idea or software programming matched that advancement

Same with Songs and Movies, trouble is you have one brilliant idea like A Nightmare On Elm Street, you have to come up with something pretty amazing to beat the original that was on a much lower budget

International Karate one the C64 was brilliant and I know it's not a sequel as it's just the Atari ST version of it, yes the graphics were amazing but I was disappointed with the game itself and would still go back to the C64 version to play

Maybe game sequels could have been much better if it wasn't about churning out another and another to keep money coming in for the company. example SFII as it was 5 years later before that sequel hit and majority prefer it to original

Outrun he had an amazing idea and it was executed brilliantly for the time and hardware, roll on the years did any sequel beat it, OutRunners I'd say was more like what his original idea was from what he's said about Outrun in interviews but I think in this case the limit of Outrun Hardware improved his idea, not saying Outrunners isn't good but clearly no where near as good as original considering OutRun is one of the most collected games ever

Terminator 2, Godfather 2... Speed 2
For all the coolness of effects in Terminator 2 I'd still sooner watch the original out of all of them

I thought Ghostbusters 2 was better than the original, Beverly hills cop 2 I'd say was a great sequel 3rd sucked and do I even wanna see the netflix special 4th, I very much doubt it

Personally I don't tend to feel it's the same with games. I know, like songs and movies, the original is the one that comes up with the memorable concept, but I've never felt it mattered so much if the sequel looks, plays and sounds better. Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 2, Quake 2, Rolling Thunder 2... I can think of a lot of games I've owned that out-did the originals.

Suppose it's quite subjective with just arcade games - I'm sure some will prefer R-type over R-type 2, or would rather play Robotron than Smash TV (a follow-up, I guess). I rather like newer versions of old stuff.

I don't know why they looked at the parry system, that people loved, and junked it (and never brought it back the same way).

Plus 3rd Strike's dance music rules over all others. SF6 sounds like it has interesting music, but it's too quiet and strange to really tell if it's good.

For those that don't know it, skip to the last 30 seconds to see the parry in action

Having not played Console games loads it difficult for me to comment on those as much but yes Streets of Rage 2 or 3 I forget which one is my Nephews fave and he tells me its best one, haven't played them for years. Not played Mortal Kombat 2 or 3 properly, I really need to start playing some games don't I lol
Virtua Fighter series I guess got better with the hardware

Sometimes though it could be case of which you played, heard or watched first. When you've seen many movies from 80s that then get remade you don't often like them, same with music yet watching House On Haunted Hill from 1999 and then watching the original who is going to be impressed with it lol, sequel to that totally sucked

Renegade on the C64 I did like as I like the arcade, then they did Target Renegade which was good
Internationl Karate, yes you could say that was better with 2 players and vs computer
Last Ninja 2 over the original, certainly just as good
