Lots of cabs to finish work on, might actually get to go out and play some stuff again by Easter.

Initial-D restore, not too much for this one.

Sky Skipper restore, cabinet needs some work but have everything I need for it. Still can't decide whether to do full cabinet fix up or leave it bashed. I think probably the latter.

OutRun 2 twin - one side is done, do side 2 so I can finally play some linked games.

Lastly would like to set up my Pool table, been wanting one for ages and picked up one last month, looking forward to getting that sorted.

I'm currently working on Astro Blaster, would like to get that finished soon.
Fix Asteroids Deluxe Cabaret

Rebuild Defender

Rebuild Addams Family

Fix Gauntlet 2 board

I have a couple of PCB projects waiting for software/firmware (6502 single-step board, JAMMA homebrew board) and another PCB I'm just about to start the layout for (in-circuit tester).

A big goal is to move out of one of my storage units. That was also my goal at the start of this year.

my plans are to:
* finish the games basement (just needs wiring completed and a repaint in summer)

* Initial D cabinet 100% shot-blasted with the white side professionally repaired and painted back white

* Rebuild said cabinet and clean and replace insides.

* Install gull-speakers and amp

* Play lots of Initial D

* Also mess around with some RC carpet racing and attend a few more car shows this year!

It seems everyone on here is looking for the same 5 sega cabs, I have no room for such things though, I'm trying to complete my set of Capcom CPS-1 boards, still missing Nemo, don't think I've seen it for sale anywhere even once in the entire time I've been looking!

I'm moving to Kidderminster from Lincolnshire, been here 30 years so it's a big step. Hoping to get a house with a big workshop, so will be getting back into fixing stuff again.

I will get that sorted out, on my list of things to do

Sometimes think I should of been a Electrician instead of Electronics, probably would of had the money for the land next to me years back and have triple garage now with bigger arcade

@iamjimmi

I bet last year you were still dreaming of owning a Space Harrier, proper dream come true when that's finished

@channel27

You would think seeing machines in bit and not being able to play them it would encourage you to get them sorted, I know what you mean though, always find other stuff to do, still have a bit of plaster boarding to do myself along with other DIY jobs

@Ianski

I've still got jobs that I started 5 years ago so I'll be happy when I'm down to a year, think the Op Wolf was in Flat Pack state for about 3 years

was great to get it back together and play it again

@Muddy

Did you grab that cheap one in Devon not long back, saw one in completed yesterday, good price on a twin

My original Game room Visions was Pool/Snooker Table, Dartboard, Bar etc but then came the Arcade machines and the rest had no chance, not even space fo Dart Board now.

I found you can get Outdoor Pool Tables though so that's an option, specially when I get another job of mine done with is Design a Roof over my Patio, so I can put a few things under there and work on stuff what ever the weather, another big job on my list

Even Argos are selling Out Door pool tables now

@Adrian

I loved seeing your collection, some very cool stuff and great dedication to the resto work on them, need more time for you to work on the nice things in life

Will get this Crossbow rebuilt at some point

@whitecomet

Need to play more Initial D myself, get those speakers fitted in the seat though, it's so much better with 5 speakers

Basement, nice

wish my Grandparents had factored in a Basement when they had this house built, be amazing as no space really for more extensions, well without ruining the garden completely

@Chuckie egg

That's what we like to hear, more machines planned

need to attend some meets, or when I've got more sorted out have one

One of the jobs I wanted done was the Gearbox on the car, partly down to this issue of my trolly I used to move some cabs about like getting the Op Wolf full size cab through doorway on it's side but had these 2 gearboxes sat on it for a year or so which is taking up the space of decent size Arcade cab so needed this sorted and out the way, gotta strip the rest of the box down now to try and sell the rest I don't need, there were 2 of them in bits on it and quite heavy so great to get them gone

Geabox-01.jpg

Have you ever wondered why when you drive the car in Reverse it makes the whining noise, after watching a few of the car shows and them saying about Racing gearbox have Straight Cut gears, they make a whining noise which is why they aren't used

Realised the Reverse gear are Straight Cut so that explained it

Geabox-02.jpg

This is one of my problems, so now floor space of one machine back but it's small part of the bigger picture.

So I never got around to finishing the Extension before buying loads more cabs I wasn't buying because no space, this extension was to fit in the ones I'd already had, The Chinese Hang-On came up along with the Crossbow, so couldn't resist, then Thunderblade, so I still have sheets of plasterboard and MDF taking space, window to put back in but couldn't finish that because I was in middle of installing Power Socket and all manner of Audio/Video connections to the wall in lounge for my Wall Hanging 80's Technics Hi-Fi, thought I'd put Video connections in too in case I put a TV there anytime, think ahead and was deciding what to install and drill the holes, because the other side of lounge wall is the extension, so had to be done before plaster boarding

That's main reason I didn't get it finished, more cabs arrive before I finish it and then I can't get to it to finish it. because I have so many machines I can't get the floor tiles finished, so I have a pile of tiles that are also taking up Cab space. Then the Arcade Carpet Tiles, they take up space of 2 machines but can't get in the arcade building to swap them over so one thing stops me doing another, which stops another and so on

The back bedroom is full of boxes, because I've spent so much time on the cars and project machines to sell the other stuff like Hi-Fi items has built up, If I sell all those then I use boxes and packing which would get me loads more space back. can't tidy up any room because no where to put that as everywhere is full so it's just a circle till I get rid of stuff out the way, drives me mad.

Today I need to get this gearbox stripped, label all the gears ready to sell and move all the machines about in here

What a great topic ………………… you could probably BUMP this every December and the chances are same messages would appear and possibly from the same contributors ……….. l o l

my workshop frequently gets like some of those bench pictures tho its a long time since I had a car gearbox or similar on examination ………….. I do strip the odd electric motor/gearboxes to repair them.

I just intend to get as totally organised and cleared out as possible practical … some things have been at the back so long they have tougher cobwebs holding them in place than the Addams family cellar...

I think I have spent as many man hours looking for stuff I know I have got than fixing the stuff in total

probably found it quicker to buy a new or replacement part but end up with packets and shelves full of duplicated items when the original later comes to light right under my nose all the time
smiley19.gif

that aside hope everyone has a good new year 2020 with what the do aim or wish for then THATS NICE

Not got any great plans for next year myself, out of space now, so its one in one out from here on, and I'm happy with the line up for now. Would like to repaint and decal my new pin at some point, probably in the spring when its not too cold to work in the garage.

A few projects unfinished to carry over to 2020:

Open my 21 machine arcade collection to the public (very very close now)

Finish off my Jamma FPGA project

Finish off my Daytona USA servo board replacement

Spend every working day re-fixing my Daytona twin, which works fine for a while and then dies

New projects for 2020:

Daytona IO board replacement

Daytona sound amplifier replacement

Sega Model 2 on FPGA

Programming an arcadey 'Battle Royal' style video game in 2D, with a hint of Gauntlet / Dunjunz split screen from the BBC Micro

Acquire a Robotron / Tempest project

Scratch design and build multiple ply based sitdown cabs for the dozen NOS 28" TVs that I acquired which have shiny bright unused tubes

Definitely going to be busy.

Steve.

Going to insulate and sort out my garage in the new year. Arcade gear is taking up too much of the family dining room.

Might even have room to add more cabs :D

This year I played more than I tinkered, it's a great hobby when that happened.

But I keep buying stuff and lack of space is starting to become problematic.

So I need to sell/trade what I don't need/no longer want!

And finish the projects that urgently need sorting:

Recap and adjust the monitor in the Blast City.

Sort out the software for the Naomi Mame/multi driver.

Finish the PACMAN cabaret that I've been meaning to finish for YEARS!

After those are finished I can start to think about starting/finishing other projects. But, I just want to finish those 3 first. Man, when I first got into this hobby I was so enthusiastic and filled with energy. Now I just stare at stuff and think I'll sort that out later.
