Probably too expensive, but how doable is it to get a Japanese cabinet or two brought from Japan to Europe on your own??

I have a place I can store some games for a while so that would take the headache out of some of it, could take my time arranging shipping.

The type I'd be after are the smaller wooden pre-candy cabinets (although some of the smaller sega cabinets could do too, like the original "city" cabinet).

I'm guessing it's all done by floor space on containers so smaller cabinets wouldn't necessarily be cheaper?

Also, I'm wondering would the import situation be similar to cars, as in, if you could prove you "owned" the item as a resident of Japan for X amount of time, would that avoid customs?

This is a bit haywire of a post, so I'll narrow it down...

You have storage in Japan, no time limit, is there a cheaper/better way to import cabs over here with that in mind?

there is a sega city on a-p for circa 4k ,it rarely comes up for sale on Ya,j nevermind worldwide , also ronnie brought in a few dagashi cabs a few years ago and were quiet expensive once offered landed. your biggest expense outside of the cab is the shipping 1 pce your customs wont be that much on a cab anyway so not not like a "car" where savings can be bigger for living there for a while.
outside of that is scarsity of some of them coming up they do there was a few similar to the tehkan cab above over the years. havent tracked any recently though.

This is the thing, it's no mark against people putting in the effort to import cabs, but I just can't be messing with those prices.

I have this idea, probably fantasy, that I'll be able to find stuff myself by digging around. The one thing I have going is the storage, but does it make any big difference doing it on your own? Dunno yet.

That's interesting about the customs charges. In theory I'd be sending it from myself to myself, so I could just put anything down as a value I suppose. But if it's only a few quid that mightnt be a a big deal.

All comes down to the sourcing really, that's the killer difference. But has anyone here ever done something similar?

I do love that cabinet too, but at least it pops up once in a blue moon here. The others above, have never seen them and probably never will!

That said, a q25 is something I wouldn't say no to if I saw one there
If you're interested in a Q25, I am planning on selling mine very soon.
