Well, this has been my lockdown project, and it'd be a good way of saying hi! I'm not going to bore everyone with the full build, but here's some vids I've taken along the way, and I've just ordered the playfield glass and backglass perspex to finish it off. Just paint, some snagging, a front end and fix the damned plunger potentiometer which seems to have given up and I'm done!

I've got plenty of vids of it in action, which is more impressive than a grey box on legs :D

I'm lightly addicted to World Cup 94 now... What a table! And it feels pretty close to perfect with the SSF system.

Managed to sort the troublesome potentiometer issue yesterday and some dodgy rgb wiring. Much better now!

Glass on on (needs a bit of adjusting) and hoping to get side rails and back glass sorted today!

Just prior to stripping it all apart to get the art on and the final side rail I thought I’d take some vids…

Unfortunately not. I am, however, all finished!

Nice, Will post some pics of mine once I sort out the backbox & DMD (which the TAB doesn't usually have), but software setup is well underway.

Nice build

So I have almost reached my capacity in my cabin and have 1 or maybe two max projects left, I was seriously considering building one of these, I am not a big Pinball fan but with the the idea of having one with so many different tables does grab me and I like building stuff.

Its hard to tell but does the screen give the table that feeling of depth not just flat graphics?

Where is a good place to go and get plans, software links etc to start a build?
Ohh how I wish for these cabs.... Robotron...Defender/Stargate

Nice work. My VPin build has stalled for over a year now due to still being unable to get my hands on a graphics card.

What card do you need that you haven’t been able to find in over a year?

Go to youtube and start inhaling Terry Red's videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2IHXuHy33Ri5fgUD8iqJfezwZUgNqnOt

It'll always be a screen, but once you've got the viewing angles adjust ed correctly in the software once you start playing you get drawn in. Tom and Jerry is particularly incredible at having depth, as does AC/DC.

What helps enormously is the SSF system, RGB toys and analogue controls. It' all adds up to a really convincing experience. It was also incredibly fun (and at times infuriating) to build. i highly recommend it.

And as for GPU? MY 4k build is running on a 1650 super. My 1080 build ran on a 7650...

I got the TAB virtual pinball from here around a month ago, well on the way to having it sorted, but added the DMD and backbox today (they were in a pinball style backbox, but that just looked weird on the modern screen mount!)

I have been trying to get an RTX3800 or maybe an RTX3700 since the day they were released, but I refuse to pay the near double scalper prices, or even the inflated prices that the likes of Overclockers are charging when they do rarely get them in.

I can't remember the type of card I put in the build initially, but it turned out that although it had 3 monitor outputs, It couldn't properly handle 3 concurrent displays, unless the monitor was a particular type of display, "active" or something like that (it meant I couldnt use a display port to hdmi cable on 2 monitors, which I had to as they were hdmi only), so the upshot is that it wouldn't work properly with the 3 hdmi monitors.

So the plan is to update my gaming PC to an RTX3800 and relegate my current Radeon RX5600XT to the Vpin. This should more than handle the Vpin requirements.

Well the TAB isn't going to tip over even if you bolted a great big LCD on the back....

Nice to see it up and running - you sticking with the plasma or you going to swap it out for a 4K LCD?

BTW - I found the missing bit from the lock under one of my cabs , do you need it?

big backbox just looked wrong, hence the change to this.

gonna keep the current screen to get it all set up and will bung something else in whenever one turns up at a good price. just got to try and wheel it into place along side the gottlieb in the picture and finish setting up the front end and tables (and add Arkanoid and Quantum to the menu to use the trackball with)

trackball is working, most controls done, putting another button (exit) where the lock was so shouldn't need the strange bit (you open it by pulling a loop of wire from under the screen now)

just need to tidy up the wiring for the backbox stuff and get all the menu images sorted (oh and hide the on-screen DMD's for ones that use the real DMD and still show them)
