I notice a few cross-posted topics. Maybe a lot. Maybe even the same members.

UKVAC was first, it was a mailing list..

Dsyde setup jamma+ So people could talk about jamma games and UKVAC could talk about pre-Jamma.

Caught me off guard recently when I referenced something that was on one of the forums on the other forum... and a mod didn't know what I was talking about!

As someone who joined the party last year, I failed to see the difference between the two sites at first... but they are clearly slightly different communities with UKVAC loving the older more classic cabs a bit more and JAMMA+ being a bit more about the games. That sound about right?

I posted the same thread on both boards and the differences in responses starkly highlighted that!

Funny, yes :)

I was hinting at the difference, too. I don't really see one and wondered why they didn't just merge and save a few quid.

IMO it's only been in the last couple of years that the two forums have become a lot more similar.

I remember the newsgroups. Looks like some of the posts were imported onto here a long while back, although the usernames were blanked.

Edit: crickey, the old arcade collecting and marketplace newsgroups are still around. Bit freaky reading your own posts from 18 years ago.

I'm not sure the exact date UKVAC started, certainly
it was an entity by our first meeting in early 1997.
I didn't do IRC so it must have been a newsgroup
in those early days too.

RGVAC came into existence 22nd December 1993 when it split
from the more general arcade games newsgroup, but
obviously many collectors had been active online long
before that.
