Astro City Candy Cab in its new home and working like a dream. A huge thanks and shout out to @jerryspaghetti for the cab and his patience with all my newbie questions and CRT discharge fears, great guy to deal with. Also massive thanks to the resident CRT hero @gunblade for fixing up the monitor chassis like its brand new 🙌

I've got the New Astro City variant of this cab, it’s probably my go-to setup for running original arcade boards.

Depending on what you plan to run in it, I highly recommend doing the stereo speaker mod. Out of the box, the cab runs in mono, which is fine for standard JAMMA boards and older titles. But if you're using something with stereo output like a MiSTer or CPS2, which I use often the stereo mod really elevates the audio.

You can also fit a subwoofer in the cab to add some low-end, since the stock speakers are pretty biased toward higher frequencies. If you're interested, here's a link below to the guide I used as a reference for the stereo mod. I didn’t follow it exactly, but it gives a solid idea of the process.

Nice one, welcome to CandyClub(tm) :)

What are you running under the hood? I noodled with MisterJAMMIX and the Pi5 based Recalbox Jamma. I still (rarely!) boot the jammix for some fpga'd computers.. apple 2, acorn archimedes, etc.. but 90% of the time it stays in recalbox jamma as a multi-game.

I occasionally throw in metal slug 2/3 neogeo boards too

Lovely cab, and I like the alcove it's sat in too! Every time I see a nice candy cab I wonder what I'm doing clinging on to my woodies... Maybe one day I'll change them but then I'll miss them I know it!

Hope it gets lots of love in its new home. It certainly sounds like it will do! - Enjoy!

Nice! Currently CPS2 x-men vs street fighter board. Yeah thats a good shout. Ah would love to have some neo geo boards, metal slug 3 still the best IMO. Something special about Neogeo maybe because as a kid it was a ridiculous thought to try to own anything Neogeo now at close to 40 i can just about 😂

Stupid question but neogeo boards work fine with standard astro jamma harness?
