Hi all I've agreed to buy a sega Naomi which has been dismantled but all parts are there, the seller has informed me the jamma loom in has been cut so my question is would I just solder the corresponding cables back together, use connector blocks or buy another jamma loom.
Cheers Brian.

Dont think Sega Naomis ever came with Jamma cables so sounds like it may have been converted.

Not sure if New Net Citys came with Jamma or conversion kits?

Naomi Universal cabs in the UK almost always came with mid res monitors and JVS wiring. There were some with dual sync monitors but not in the UK.
Jamma runs at 15hz. If you want to run jamma in a Naomi universal you need a convertor. Irken labs is the best of the best for this but he is currently not selling as he is moving.

Hi all I went to see the Naomi universal cab today and it is indeed been converted to jamma but he has cut every cable including the one to the monitor.
I've added a couple of pics of what I could get to as it's in a container with loads of stuff in the way so judging by the pictures would it be worth buying and how much work do you think it would be getting it back up and running as looking at all the cut cables its a bit daunting to me.
It comes with a Toshiba monitor which he says is a cracking picture with no burn,he also can't find the bag with all the nuts and bolts to put it all back together so they would need to be replaced.
Looking forward to your advise.
Just noticed the pic I took of the monitor and it's all blurred so haven't added it 😡
Cheers Brian

key components you need to make sure are there:

monitor collar spacer x 4 (purpose is to position the monitor so the bezel fits snuggly, Sanwa/Nanao use different ones) - I probably have loads of these
monitor rear plastic cover (this also includes the speakers)

I'd chuck all that Jamma junk in the bin and start again - it's using a wei-ya upscanner to convert 15k to 31k (those things are horrible IMHO), but your other choice is to revert back to JVS (but you'd need a lot, PSU, Audio amp, JVS I/O etc).

Missing the bolts etc is PITA too as most are chrome tamper proof type (obviously you could use regular bolts).

Least of your problem is the DB15 VGA cable though.

Hope you at least got it cheap.

Isn’t the usual Naomi monitor if it’s running an upscaler. They are 31khz only. Could have got an ms8/ms9?

Edit:That’s me being thick, you’d upscale to 31k

Hi thanks for your reply, the monitor casing is there with speakers it's like brand new so are the leg guides with the Naomi decals they are in great condition also,it was all together and working about a year and a half ago in a loft I think he said he used it for playing r-type hence why he said the picture on the monitor is superb but in between the time of it going up and coming down work had been in the house so the space for it to come back down was nowhere near large so for quickness he just cut the cables as he only had a couple of hours to get it out or he was never going to see it again.
How easy would it be to get hold of a jamma loom to fit the cab.
What would a ball park figure be to buy it how it is as I'm still undecided.

Cheers Brian

I'd say in it state, it simply is not a functional cabinet - and you taking someone word that the monitor is OK. I mean it's all subjective, it's how much you want to spend.

I'd never spend over £200 on a cabinet like that, but that's just me (and obviously I've been in the trade, and used to buy those brand new for under £1K).

Hi all I've agreed to pick the Naomi up on Thursday so be prepared to be asked loads of questions 🤣, first thing I will need to get is the bolts and nuts needed to put it all back together as he still can't find them.
I know I don't need any carriage bolts for the cp as they are there so will be looking for ones for the crt,crt back casing, front bezel and for the legs if anyone has any ideas what I would need and the sizes and where I could purchase them that would be brilliant.
Cheers Brian

But I’m going for the rear monitor back cover fixing a
6mm diameter stainless steel /chromed
Dome headed Security Torx Coach bolt @ 28mm long .

Same for front bezel

Hi all looking for some guidance here as per thread above I'm picking this machine up on Thursday but the monitor isn't in the cab and the fixing bolts aren't there to put it in, part of the deal is the monitor working so was wondering what is the best way to test the monitor when I get it home as there is no power in his unit to even try it.
Cheers Brian

If its the original monitor it will be 100v so needs to be run via the transformer in the base.

The transformer will be wired for 100v output and also a lower AC voltage for the original amplifier if it's still in there.

Cheers for that I thought it could be something like that, what I'll do is take some pics when I get it all home and will post here and hopefully with some help I'll be able to get it connected up.👍

Hopefully the power connector for the monitor is still there, its a multi pin square plug with just 2 wires going into it, 12 way connector I think, located on a metal plate just below the VGA connector, this is from memory from a lot of years ago though, and depends on it being the original monitor.

Okay folks let the saga begin 😀, I'll attach some pics of what I picked up today and how all the cables were when I got it home I've knotted some of the cables that come from the monitor back together I don't know if it's right hopefully it is but something tells me it doesn't look right.
Thanks in advance for all help on this, the seller couldn't find the nuts and bolts so I can't even put it back together 😭

Blue and Pink from the monitor are the power so thats correct, the red and red/black wires are for the degauss and normally go to a button inside the control panel.
