I've recently picked up a converted Dino King cab and I was wondering if anyone still makes the metal control panels and overlays for them.
I've swapped out the the joystick that came with it (see below) for an Ultimarc Ultrastick 360 so it can play Monkey Ball, but I want a more traditional six button layout as well that I can swap in and out from time to time.

I don’t know anyone who makes the metal panels anymore.

I believe Olly from Arcade Artshop still makes the control panels from plexi complete with the artwork if you don’t mind plexi instead of metal.

Thanks guys. A metal panel would have been nice and more robust, especially if the panels are going to get swapped over every so often. Perhaps I'll get one of the acrylic ones for now and then look at getting a custom metal panel made locally. In fact, it looks Muddy sells the overlays here: https://www.arcadeartshop.com/product/dinosaur-king-control-panel-overlay-cpo/

So I could get a metal panel cut and stick the overlay on.

Yep, Olly sells 6 button plexi control panels.

I actually have one of these on order myself, he is making it orange for me (you can request in the order notes)

I would be interested to hear your feedback on the acrylic panel, if it’s decent I’ll look to get one too.

Only thing that’s pet peeve is seeing mounting screws for JLF stick on the surface, love when it’s hidden under the vinyl.

Cheers

I do have an acrylic panel made by Olly in my Dino cab now, as I themed it around the game Strider. It is only a 2 button panel, but it feels very sturdy. I have no issues with it whatsoever.

On a slightly different note, has anyone come up with a way of making the control panel for these hot swappable? I might not be possible, but it would be great if you could click the control panels on and off without having to undo those eight bolts. I was thinking of somehow incorporating magnets and a hidden latch or something like that.

Where are you guys finding these Dino King cabinets? I'd love to get one!
I picked mine up from a listing on Facebook. It was on one of the other arcade groups. In fact I think the cab that I got was advertised last year on the UKVAC Facebook group as well, but the woman who was selling it, didn’t know if it was working or not so no one seems to have gone for it (it was also located in Hull, so not super close to most. It was a 4 hour round trip for me and I live in the middle of the country 😁). I paid £400 which was a bit of a risk as I didn’t know if the monitor worked or not. I could have haggled but I’ve been looking for one for a while, so I took the risk knowing that I have a working 14 inch monitor to swap in if needed.

It might be worth putting a wanted post here and perhaps on some of the other groups on Facebook to see if anyone has one for sale. Good luck!

I jave seen them go for anywhere between £500-£800 depending on condition. Have also seen some full themed conversions in mint condition demand up to 1k.

They are great little machines to work on, so dont be afraid of a fixer-upper!

I’ve got a Recalbox Jamma adaptor with a Raspberry Pi 4 hooked up to it. It was pretty much plug and play once the ROMs were sorted out. I think it uses Flycast to emulate Naomi. It works pretty well. I’m wondering if I can 3d print a banana joystick topper for it 😁.

I was hoping you were gonna say that! I have the same. Recalbox is ace now V10 is released. Everything seems to be plug and play for me.
