Nice. Michaelwood and Aust services were a huge part of my arcade experience in the 80's and 90's!

It's another good read (y) You seem to be adept at finding pictures from the time..

I tried to do something similar last year (inspired by your blogs) never quite got around to sorting out the formatting etc.

Nice work Mr Stokers. I've given your blog a follow. You'll need to get busy on episode 2 now!

Always amused me how often motorway services had driving games! 😆

Yeah because the first thing you wan't to do when you stop in services for a break from your Journey is jump in a machine to do more driving
Ah I've just read it all and see you said same thing, however if my Dad wasn't so careful with his money we may have seen more arcades in service stations, he wouldn't stop at Motorway Services and I don't blame him with the prices they charge

It would have been different if they had a nice choice of Driving Games in the 80's as the Adults they could have a break from driving and being 'driven' mad by the kids on the "Road To Hell" while the kids could have enjoyed something they couldn't normally do, so it's a win win (If you have the money)

Have you seen WH Smiths sold up and now being renamed TG Jones :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, we only ever stopped at services on those epic summer road trips. And usually only at night when nothing else was open. Sometimes, long distance travel had its perks!

PS: I knew Smith's had been sold, but not what the name was changing too. Sad times :-( Mind you, I still pine for John Menzies. Looking back, it was the best high street chain ever imho...
