Hi all. I've purchased a 619 in 1 Game elf on this forum for a table-top/supergun project (it will plug into the TV).
So I'm thinking about how to wire up the 6 buttons per player.

Neo Geo-style would look like this:
1,2,3,4

But what about Street Fighter type games? This (I think):
1,2,3
4,5,6 (6 buttons in 2 rows).

That's the context. Here's the idea:

Can I use something like a 4PDT On/On switch (per player) to create a setup like this:
1,2,3
4/1, 5/2, 6/3, 0/4

I've never seen anybody do it but I can't see why it wouldn't work.

This post hasn't had any replies but I think it's probably the most interesting thing I've posted--I want to take one more try at explaining it (as it's got to be? a common MAME issue).

I don't want to choose between a standard Neo Geo button layout and a 6 button layout for Street Fighter II. I want the best of both worlds.

See picture below:

If the model above, can be extended to 3 or 4 buttons using a switch that controls multiple circuits I can layout my buttons and then have them switch tracks to remap correctly so that I can have either NEO GEO (A - button 1, B - button 2, C - button 3, D - button 4) in the bottom row or have the bottom row map to (4,5,6,0) the last one being switched off as not needed by my for 6 player street fighter.

I could be wrong about the need to do this at all! but what I've seen when googling is stuff like this:

4 standard NEO GEO buttons on the top out of necessity rather than preference. Moving them to the bottom requires that they be remapped whenever you want them to be 4,5,6 (Street fighter style).
