how time flies and prices inflate see our advert centre of April 1981 pinballs from £10
woody bfm fruits £10 and apart from a Ding Dong 60s pinball don't think we sold any others ? from that ad?
SYSTEM ONE TWO THREE FOUR cheapies .... i think we had most of these except FIVE as we soon had a couple ATARI Asteroids
SOME OF THE FIRST COPY GENERIC BLACK ASH SUPER HEAVY very square impossible to grab at the base to carry
i came across a massive cash box for one a while back probably in its day held about £400+ in big 10p s never filled them?

a few months later i got mentioned in the Grape Vine gossip page at Decemeber 1981 under the shop picture on right..

yep Olly .. we always offered stuff at a bargain price ....... still do sometimes ...it wasn't unusual for small operators to dump things in Coin Slot classified cheap or Exchange & Mart was a weekly ads paper with a coin op section near the back .....now we depend on forums or EBAY of course . Just found a couple of Centipede bits to go .and a guy last week got a Asteroids marquee here for £20 when he picked up a 60's Cross Town back glass for just £30 ,,,such items 40-60 years old and been in our possession almost all that time in some cases....

i recall one of those pins was a D Gottlieb ... 1963 * Gigi * and working we ended up putting it in Prestatyn Youth club and it made just over £11 the following week and it was there till it 'died' i think about 4 months later

BUT ........... the back glass LIVES ON we see it every day in our stairway overhead as we come down each morning as it soon got framed and
i am sure i still have the back box stashed somewhere but the bed playfield was trashed when the glass (quite unusually back then) got broken and the kids smashed a few plastics ,, the glass was 1/4 plate so did often crack across a corner or worse , the zone toughened ones in the mid 70s lasted better..

nice little picture for the readers we have a couple of framed 60s back glasses hung World Fair , Bazaar and as you see here a rare Taito Jap Space Invaders..........................

I remember having a 4 digit telephone telephone number too :)

Thanks for sharing. Any chance you could do a close-up scan or photo of the The Grape Vine article? I’d be interested in reading it.
