Hi Neil,

Welcome to UKVAC!

An Outrun upright will set you back between £600-950

The smaller 'midi' anything between £350-450

The moving sitdown £1200-2500

There's also a static sitdown but I haven't seen one for sale for many years so it's hard to gauge what that would go for.

Machines do break but saying that if it is well looked after it should give you years of trouble free service. If things do break they can be repaired (tech threads on here or paying someone to do it), or you can buy spares.

Spare Outrun PCB is anything between £100-160

Monitor £75-160

Power supply £20

Artwork £30-100 (various parts - the larger side art being more expensive) most of this is repro as new old stock is too hard to find now.

An Outrun 2 will cost you over £1200, and you can get a TSD (twin sit down) for about £2500. It is slightly more for Outrun 2 SP or Special Tours.

Both machines come up for sale on here.

Good luck in your hunt!

Thanks for your time Alpha1. It is appreciated. Costs are up at the top of my budget but not out of reach. It's good just to have some idea to avoid being ripped off.
I'm sure I will posting lots as the time passes.
Cheers.

bear in mind though that this can be a pretty heartbreaking hobby as your pride and joy will go wrong, however, it seems like everything is fixable and the people here have done me so many favours and offered so much advice that i really don't know how i would have got by without them, so you are very much in the right place...

Hi Neil, I fall into the "haven't got a clue" end of the UKVaC knowledge-spectrum but you learn quick and everyone here is really helpful. As Chubsta said; they will go wrong but half the fun is getting them going again without electricity leaking all over you.

Thanks everyone for the advice and warming comments. I look forward to asking lots of questions and hope to avoid the leaking electricity. He he.

Yeah; it's not a case of 'if' a cab or board will go wrong.
It's not even a case of 'when'.
It's more like 'how many minutes will I get out of this one before something stupid happens?'

Big Phil. If only I could. Few things happen up north so ordinarily I would, however it has selfishly been arranged on the same weekend as wife 2B is on her hen weekend which leaves me with the 2 kiddiwinks. Doh. Life is just not fair!

Hi Neil

Welcome to the VAC! You've picked good choices with OR and OR2! It would be many people's dream garage to have those two in there.

Why don't you come along to the Play Expo at Blackpool this weekend? There'll definitely be an Out Run mini there that you can have a play on and Cumbria's only just up the road from Blackpool.

Cmonkey, I saw this being on this weekend and the trip is sooooooooo enticing, but I've already got stuff on, (this whole wedding thing needs so much stuff doing!!!!).

In a similar vein though and maybe this is worth me posting on a seperate thread.....?

It would be great to find out where I could go on a day2day basis and play Outrun and/or Outrun2. ie; does anyone know any arcades/venues near to me (Carlisle, Cumbria) where these machines are playable? Or do they only exist in the private enclosures or people luckier than me!!
