Interesting morning!
First I went to an injection moulding co.
Found out that Naomi bezel was pressed on a larger at least than 30 ton plastic press..
So they couldn’t do it..

So I have been to a vacuumed moulding co. They also make props for film industry .
They are based in my town and the company is called Interform.

I have been looking for a flat Naomi bezel for while now.(3 years!)
Mark at Hart of gaming just sorted me out 1 😁,

Well he said lots of interested party’s on Facebook also wanted it.

So I have decided to investigate the possibility's of a vacuum moulded reproduction.

Not going to be a 1:1 but they have said they will get it as close as they can.
With options to change colours , and plastics, For example they have a
High gloss acrylic coated Kuro black which Was nice.

Rather than a cheap Mdf tool.
I’m asking for a hard appoxy and aluminium tool to be made..

I’m getting the quote early next week.
Obviously can then expand range of repro bezels & other plastic parts ..
Speaker marquee astro city etc..
Hopefully depending on uptake and prohibitive tool manufacturer.

Hey retroman.

All my 29 inch trisync crts are true flat needing the NOA-1502-03 bezel but my bezels are both NOA-1502-02 with the slight curve.

Would definitely be in for 2x if you were getting some made.

For the tooling …
Non Mdf so it would last 1000 pressings rather than just 10 or twenty

£2000+. They didn’t seem to confident in the strength of the final product either. So it felt like a waste of time in the end ..

i did also go to the correct place for a
1:1 tool to be made £60,000

Same size tooling machine that makes the sulo bin lids .

I do know another company that could do it by way of a diffrent process I will ask them again .

Get a tool out of Japan and we are in business 😉

Yaton was selling them for $150 each when he had stock so they are not cheap.

There are several WTB threads here on UKVAC.

Maybe try expanding the interest check on facebook and arcade projects too. Lots of WTB threads there also.

You are some man for looking into this!

I just get back to my old invoices from Sega Total Solution back in the days and in 2010 NOA-1502-03 was only 25,82£ plus vat, new........
Years have passed and those items cannot be found anymore....and that's really a shame.....
I think i have the last one (or one of the few remaining) NOA-1500UK (the front mask of the naomi) NOS, from my order in 2010....
I cannot believe all this time has passed......... :(

£2000 isn't that bad for something that size if it's metal. You can get stronger wooden, hard woods, that will hold up better under pressure, but again you won't get 1000 presses out of it. At least that is a one time cost, recouped over time.

You also get setup and tear down costs, which is what makes small runs expensive, once setup, you can fly through them.

Yeh I mean if enough interest at say £100 a bezel .. 20 people
But this would be taking a risk that the final product was going to be good enough .

Guy said it would look the same but may not have the rigidity ..
Or the inset bolt terminals ..

Simply it would be like a impression
That would require further wok as it is not the same as the £60.000 process
