Anyone ever comp modded a 2600 clone before?

I've picked up 2X 128 games built in 2600 clones.
They look almost identical to a proper 2600 woody 4 switch.
The insides are quite different. It's not the usual 'Rambo' clone, either.

I've been told a clean comp mod would work, but I'm not giving that arsehole from Retosix any of my money. Hopefully someone can tell me where to tap audio & video and I can use a regular comp mod circuit on it.

Usually you tap the signal going into the rf box and use a basic transistor circuit with a couple of resistors to amplify the video. They didn't use an rf box by the looks of it and have the components spread out over the board.

Using the schematics for the original you should be able to find the signals you need. The clone of that chip on your board looks to be the 6526P.

You want to grab the composite video where it says to modulator, out of the 1K resistor and the audio of of the transistor.

Tried this tonight and I can see some sort of a picture, but it's rolling all over the place.

In most 2600 composite mods, you need to temove some resistors and a diode. Any idea how I can work this out?

I removed the inductor (coil thing) and makes no difference.

Drawing schematics of your clone board so you can match / cross reference with the original schematics or whatever composite mod you're following is probably your best bet. Start from the co10444 clone and redrawn the part I posted above, I imagine they copied the original exactly but layed it out differently.
