Anyone here ever played Cosmo Swat?

I played this a lot when it was in an arcade in Glasgow back in the day, I was quite good at it, nobody seemed to play it or like it, so no queue!! Every time I mention the name to fellow gamers they think I am imagining it! I thought it was quite a cool game, obviously basic, but good for the old reflexes!

Is that the one with a big rifle, where you stand at a console some distance from the screen ?.

If so, I remember one at the front of one of the arcades on Southend seafront in the mid 80s. My friends laughed at me when I picked up the gun for the first time and sat the rifle butt thing on top of my shoulder. I obviously didn't know anything about guns :).

I think I saw one once in a tiny little hidden arcade at "Flambards" theme park in Cornwall. It would've been around 1991-2 and they had one I think? The only other game I remember is an original Galaxians cabinet. I didn't play anything in the arcade as I was just amazed at how old everything was in there.

There was another arcade in the main area that had current games so I imagine this was like some vestigial arcadelet where they'd shunted old things that still happened to work over to.

Yeah, Mr B's had one at the back of the arcade in 1985 in Southend on Sea but I believe the Las Vegas arcade had one at the front of their arcade. I remember having to paint silver conductive paint onto the xenon tube every couple of weeks to keep it working. I know I've still got one of the xenon tubes in its Namco housing somewhere. I think also you had to be careful with these because they could hold a charge as well. A good game but with the price of electricity now it'll probably cost 50p a shot lol.

Yep, they used to have a CosmoSwat (along with an original Shoot Away) back in the 80's and 90's at the Harbour Amusements arcade in St. Ives here in Cornwall. Played it every single time I visited! It used 2 guns with a 14" crt (I think, might've been 20") for scoring and attract mode and if I remember correctly it had an electromechanical section inside the cabinet using a lamp which, via mirrors, projected out of the back of the cabinet and produced a target zooming about on the big space/moon/planet themed screen. If I remember correctly the screen was slightly curved. Was great fun, wish I could find one these days, does take up a fair bit of floor space though! :D

I had one but sold it.

If you check the Mr. Bean at the arcade video it was Clarence Amusements in Portsmouth and there's a Cosmo Swat just inside one of the main doors.
