Anyone into darts?

Hi all, I've just bought an old 90's Compumatic coin op electronic darts machine. Not sure if this is the right form for this sort of thing? I haven't got it working properly yet. I nearly broke my back getting the thing up on the wall. I need to work out how to bypass the coin op (it's configured for an obsolete pre Euro currency) and also it's seems to be stuck in menu mode. At least I can throw darts at it but the best thing is it plays James Brown when you switch it on! Anyone got any experience of these things?

Never seen one before, you need to find out the make and model of the coin mechanism and Google for the operator manual. Some of these micro mechs are manually programmable by clearing the memory and inserting the coins you wish to use via the program menu.
As for being in memory mode, normally you'd press a button to enter this mode but some machines automatically entered it when the door was opened. So maybe just a door switch not being pushed in fully or broken. If you are really lucky you might find a manual for the actual machine if you know who made it, again googling is your best bet. Good luck and hope it's an easy fix.

Cheers, it came with a manual. It's been crated and never used for 30 odd years. Quite a find. The menu mode is governed by a switch on the main PCB but it doesn't make any difference. I'm assuming I have to program it for first use but not had much luck so far.

I found a manual for the coin acceptor. It's an NCI G13. It has a learn mode but the DIP switches in the manual don't match the ones on my unit. I might just try to source some old coins and leave the cash box off. 👍

seen the big stand up machines on ebay in UK but not ones that small, very nice. I know they did a small one over here because they used to give them away as prizes on TV Show Bullseye :)

What type darts do you have to use on them though, not standard ones are they?

Bullseye! This is what you could have won! 🤣

It's basically a soft darts board so I bought a pack of 12 soft darts off Amazon for a tenner. The shaft, tail and flights are a standard dart but the tip is a semi flexible plastic with a rubberised coating. The dart set came with a pack of 100 tips so I'm guessing they wear out.

I can still use it as manual soft darts board. Would be nice to have the machine working though as it plays silly tunes every time you get a score or beat an opponent. Great when you've got mates round for a beer. Isn't this what it's all about? 😉👍
