Currently playing the cat and mouse game with Roblox at the moment, its driving me nuts . Because it installs in local users profile and can run in a browser too its proving difficult to stop. Depite removing Micorosft store (off the win 11 device) and web blocking extensions still a mare, . I got so far with chrome extensions but they can be killed off easily. Editing th Lmhost and local firewall on device seems to have made little difference.

My router is owned by the truespeed cable company and on their default one they dont provide the admin to alter it.

Has anyone one else got any advise of dealt with blocking Roblox. Ideally I'd like the abilty top open it up and block it off myself. At moment I find the kid pretending to do homework then playing robox. I just want to make it dedicated time of study and games.

From what I can tell I may just need to bite the bullet and change the router to one I can block the webiste.

Anyone got advise of what a decent router make is these days and not bought one n maybe 15 years :)

Thanks

Feeling for you.
Having younger kids and trying to balance school work with social media and games is a thankless task.
I love games but always did the home work first so it was never an issue. Or maybe I'm just getting old and looking back with rose tinted glasses.
The only way I've found to limit device use is cut the wifi based on the device at set times. Our eldest figured out they could circumvent that on their surface by going to private mode and restarting the laptop though...there were about 60 profiles on the router by the time we found out.

Change the profile's DNS entries ... I forget exactly how ... but you can block whole IP / site ranges without going anywhere near the firewall.

EDIT Ah ... that's it ... it's the 'hosts' file ... add a local IP address next to the roblox site ... and it simply won't load. (or something like that)

the hosts file is normally used to allow connections in and out

just make your kid do their homework downstairs is probably the easiest option

so this video seems to think it works, its worth a try if nothing else, just make sure you remove the '#' at the start of the line, that is commenting the line out

Sorted. Rang provider they swapped out my router for a linksys mesh one with admin rights and a phone app. I am now able to name the device and turn Internet off or block roblox from my phone. This has solved issue so far we allow it and block it as we see fit !° The app goes down to individual devices.
