Just a quick question about arcade bits and pieces...where do you lovely people grab your yours? I'm at the planning stages of a build and considering Gremlin Solutions or www.arcadeworlduk.com as it's now officially called. Just wondered who you all go with?
Thanks,
Rory

I guess it depends on what cab they are for mate, if it's Japanese then your looks at sanwa or seimitsu, but for more classic type stuff emm, I think I used gremlin... wasn't cheap though

It's for a DK build. I know I want classic happ buttons but undecided on type of joystick as yet. I prefer ball top to bat. I guess I need to look into that a bit more. Looks like peops are using the company I've been looking at, that's reassuring :)

Yeah used them for years, dont worry about that mate.

If its ball top for a wooden cabinet then a sanwa jlf could be a good fit. microswitched (standard crimp connection) and has a slightly longer thrown then the jlw, a tad more reminiscent of a happ stick.

If its precision your after then a modified (actuator) JLW works very well but it has a 5 pin connector that isnt your standard woody configuration. So you'd need the loom.

Then theres the seimitsu LS56 which is a very tight and precise stick, and the ultimarc 360 is another option but ive never used one of these myself.

this website has some good info about sticks

After reading up on the above suggestions, I shall be going with the Seimitsu LS56. It's definitely the one for me. Last question, if someone would be kind enough to answer: What is a better choice for arcade buttons, gold leaf or micro switches? Any major pros or cons between the two connector types?

Thanks.

I like the Sanwa sticks so I usually go for the J-Stik from Ultimarc, which (IIRC) is a JLW with an on-the-fly rotatable 4/8 way restrictor.

I really pushed the boat out for a vertical Mame machine I built recently and put a ServoStik (also from Ultimarc) in it. This is the same stick as the J-Stik but the restrictor is moved with a motor. Not cheap, but for something like a Mame machine where you will be playing 4 and 8 way games I have to say it is excellent.

For buttons I recently tried these with the leaf switch...and highly recommend them. Less travel than an old leaf switch button but aside from that very similar:

I've also got some Gold Leaf buttons and while I prefer real leaf switches, these are very good, and good value.

Thanks dude. I'm all set with my bits and pieces now, did some research over the weekend. Great website though. I'm getting everything from the UK for the build. It will be very much a made in England affair....although I'm sure everything that will be attached to the CP will be from overseas

Have you finished your cab? Perhaps you could post a picture of your triumph
