Thought i'd share this fix for later reference.

PCB arrived from RetroClinic but was not displaying colour - not Mark's fault, usual "just etched" look of the board etc, unfortunately Mark doesn't have a colour vector monitor so burn tested on his scope before shipping.

He was good enough to endure the dropouts of facetime and skype video to work us through diagnosing the board. The video shows the full description and diagnosis and resolution.

Thanks for sharing. Tempest is possibly one of the flakiest cabs I've owned but it's a thing of beauty I'll never part with and straight top 5 cab for me. Support from the guys on here have kept her running, in particular Mark (who looked over the PCB stack for me) and Ordy, who bullet-proofed the monitor for me.

Thanks mate, I absolutely love this game - I am terrible at it but it's an amazing "quick fix" game - so much depth, simple but great graphics and an addictive quality you just don't find on anything new.

The cab belongs to Luke, i've serviced the monitor, bought a working PCB a while before this which ended up lasting about 15 mins, went back, Mark repaired it and lasted about an hour on his bench so he refurbed an extra board (this one) regrettably without colour.

We wanted it working for the party at the end of August (nag, nag, you must come sometime, waves finger admonishingly lol) so Mark spent time the week running up to it on facetime with us probing the board with a scope and him watching the patterns on it via the camera, he whittled it down to an area, we changed another dead chip and then these 3 but the replacements didn't arrive (lost in post) so this video is after the party during the post-game-fixes.

He also squeezed in a Star Wars sound board fix in record time for me and has my spare set which is now working but i'm a bit of a pauper for a few weeks still.
