I was listing various pcbs for sale (moving house this year so need to clear a lot of stuff) and have had an atomic robokid pcb for awhile. I originally thought it was a bootleg version but doesn't seem to match any of the pics online. The cpu section is not the epoxy case version but a daughter board with a pal chip on it for the decoding (i assume). Wondering if there's any more info about these pcbs and whether its worth recreating this daughter board and dumping the pal for preservation before selling the pcb or keeping it and maybe lending it to @chuckieegg and his arcade endeavour for awhile?. There is no pal listed on jamma-arcade(pld archive).

Also the sound section looks the same as an original and the rom labels look like the snk type style of this era.

Thoughts??

Like I stated in you sale thread, it looks legit to me, and the PCB has been silkscreened with a code, which is uncommon on a bootleg, it breaks all the rules!

Here is my original taken last night, almost identical. Could be a Korean version, like you get with some of the Toaplan PCBs, although they tend to skimp with poor components, especially around the sound section. Idk though!

Yeah that's the bootleg one. If I were you compare the ROMs to the original set as they may very well be a market for it.

I have an original PCB missing that encrypted CPU for example.

If anyone would know it would be you, cheers, that clears it up then.

For me, the giveaway is the Mitsubishi stickered roms, it screams bootleg.

Most bootlegs i see don't have these nice quality stickers with a separate colour ink for the rom number. They are normally a red circle paper sticker. I though i had seen plenty of snk boards with a 2 colour screen print silver rom label

I believe the PCB is the same PCB from the same screen in the same factory.

Interesting to know. SO there must have been at least 2 bootleg versions then as this one is all socketed roms and doesn't match the other pictured bootleg on the internet in any way. The other bootleg looks more bootleg with cheaper assembly job.. (ie the sound section looks nasty)

Are you interested in knowing more about this cpu daughter board, as i will look at it but only if people think its worth the time... It could be a better option as the other one uses the old hard to get 82S proms

The usual giveaway for jamma bootys is the jamma edge connector. Is it keyed? I can't clearly see from the photo. If no, then likely it's a bootleg.
