Purchased a bootleg pcb of bombjack recently from a member, it was sold as not tested, anyways here it is on my work bench. 1000012078.jpg
It appeared in nice condition with no parts missing also included was the jamma adapter and rgb harness, right let's fire it up.......
Well it powers on to a black screen with no image and no sound, next I made a closer inspection of both boards to see if any traces were broken or loose eproms, everything looked fine until I looked at the rgb connector, according to the schematics there should be a common gnd and and video gnd crimped to it which was missing?1000012089.jpg
The jamma card looked very poorly soldered and so I decided to replace and completely do the card and harness.

Cool 😎 bombjack is alive and we have sound and working controls but there's an issue with the foreground tiles and I worked out there are 3 roms which stores the data. 1000012093.jpg
Started to scope all the data pins and as I was checking the foreground tiles graphics returned to normal, by wiggling one of the roms the tiles messed up again. I removed all three roms and their sockets were single wipe and these are usually crap and not reliable, fitted new sockets and refitted the roms and...1000012097.jpg1000012096.jpg
Ooooooooo yes it's now working properly, another one saved.

Love reading these. Sorry that it wasn't working when it arrived, but great to know it went into the hands of someone who could fix it rather than another piece of history ending up in landfill. Funny to think I had it all those years and it had probably never worked :) You missed the opportunity for showing us your new version of the card/harness wiring, with just a teaser glimpse in the corner of the 7th photo!
