This Toki bootleg was working but with graphic errors.
Fixed most by cleaning up and reseating the roms. The ones on the top daughterboard are sprites and the rows on the bottom of the picture are the backgrounds.
After that one fault remained in the background which I initially thought was a rom issue but after checking all of the background roms against mame they were all showing correct. A continuity check showed no faults either.

Next I started checking the chips near the background roms. There's no schematics for this one but it didn't take long to find a bad LS597 at IC142 with the slice. These chips have a parallel input and a single serial output which I assume takes the data from the eproms and turns it into a bitstream for further processing before being displayed.

Replaced that and now all is good.

Toki is definitely a brutal game, but man, it's satisfying to see it in mint condition after a restoration like that. I also recommend checking out the list of games on this site. In addition to games, there are many bonuses and generally high-quality offers for recreation and entertainment, as well as the opportunity to increase your deposit several times over in terms of winnings. Overall, it's a great site https://pinup-247.net/. Be sure to leave your feedback and share your impressions.
