As some of you may know I will be running the Brighton Marathon again (fourth time), just over a week to go now.

Training has been good this year apart from really bad chest infection for a few weeks, which is nearly cleared.

I ran with a shirt under the name of Gorf last year and it was great to hear people shout "come on Gorf", but decided to go a little further this year and had a mock up of the rank lights on the back to indicate the years I had run.

Was training for 3:45 time (12 minutes faster than last year), but fear chest infection is going to hamper me somewhat.

Awesome. Is it time to dress as one of the characters from the cabinet art though? That flying thing on the right looks nifty, you could knock competitors out of the way as you ran.

Didn't go to plan for me this time. a combination of the heat and the remnants of a bad chest infection forced me to stop at 14 miles. Totally gutted, training was so much better than last year but chest infection really buggered me up. Roll on next year

Must've been wrenching to have to have stopped after all the training and everything, but as we all get older, you have to start listening to you body more and more!! You can't do much about infections.

Good luck for next year!!

Cheers Tony,, it's gutting when you know three weeks before you ran an 18 miler at 30 seconds per kilometer faster then went to the meet at cnp's suffering no ill effects. Got to train for Southend half marathon in July now
