Looking fantastic T. nothing like the warm glow of phosphor to set a new room up just right. Think i'll have to have a chat with you about where you got the aircon from at some point if that's okay?

Cheers m8, yeah give me a shout anytime. I bought a ECO916SD-MK2 spec here LINK I purchased mine from here for under £400 delivered but they only have the 1800 BTU Model on sale for £549 Which is a Bigger Unit LINK Or there is another Store that does the one I purchased but £60 more LINK

Can I ask what's the name of the insulation you used under the laminate?
As My Floor is raised from the Concrete Base I didn't bother with damp proofing or thick Insulation. Had it been On Concrete I would have prob installed damp-proof, then 50mm Baton with 50mm Celotex then Chipboard then Laminate. I just used something like this Link, cant find the same stuff I bought as it no longer in my purchased items

Currently I run it permanently at 16 Deg heat, and it comes on approx ever 1.5hrs for 5 - 10 min

Woah! I need one of these!! Either that or there is something seriously wrong with the insulation in my build (which looks exactly the same as how you have done it).

I have an oil filled radiator on a thermostat and timer. I had to stop using the building as an office because it would double the electric bills when I switched the heater on

Do you have any info / links to what it is and where it can be bought?

Thanks.
Info now above m8. Depending on size of the Room might be worth going for the bigger unit! The Unit I have is Energy rating is A+/A

I use an oil filled radiator, too. Flipping thing pulls about 8 amps, when it's on.

Luckily for me the Room is only 6m x 1.8m Would have been nice bigger though as I could get more Cabs in there!

Good info - thank you. I might see if I can get hold of a qualified installer locally and make some enquiries. I might need the next size up as my room is 5mx4m but it's still not massive. Biggest concern for me would be the noise of the outside unit. Everyone is tucked up in bed by about 9 in the bungalows at the back of my house

Thanks - I suspect it's fine. It's very difficult to put raw DB numbers into perspective, especially in the dead of night when everything is quiet.

It would be really nice to be able to use my room as an office again. That would mean I could bring the repair stuff back into the house and get out of my 7' box room that I'm confined to all day.

Also, nothing more depressing than spending 16k on a building you don't really use because you can't afford to heat it.

Totally this!and a very similar situation with the neighbours being in bungalows so noise is a concern too.

Cheers Terry for the info so far. will be getting into this very soon so ill be in touch :)

Just been weighing up the costs, I'm really surprised at the heat output to consumption, under 900 watts for nearly 3 kW of heat. That would toast a room for low running costs. The dehumidifier is great also. I really do have to tip my hat off to you sir ( not often in polite like that) just been speaking to my wife and we are setting aside the funding to add to the build, I will now look at the power source if it needs hard wiring, can't see it being a 13amp plug also the air conditioning engineer if needed.

The largest model they have is 12.8 amps rated. A 13a socket will be just fine, 2.5mm cable more than ample. I'd you want to make a proper job of it a 20 amp spur unit fused at 13 amp will cover you for the biggest model.

This type if ac is widely used all over the world, but not in the UK. Seems the people in power want us sheeple to keep using inefficient heating methods like storage, gas etc.

The key for these units is that the area heated is well insulated and with no draughts. There was a thing I read ages ago about a builder in the US who was using these to heat all of his new build houses. The key for him was insulation, the houses were completely draught proof (or sealed) and he used waste heat recovery on the air that was exhausted from the house.

Still got the Twin SP and Twin Scud Race in the Main part of the Cabin, and soon should have the Super Hang-On Deluxe in there too. Then that's me done hopefully!!
