Anyone running a Naomi Netdimm with Capcom IO in their Jamma cab?

I’m thinking of installing a Sun PSU inside an Astro City to power the Naomi/Netdimm

The Sun needs a 100-120v supply and trying to work out the best way to supply this

There’s a two prong socket on the rear of the Astro City and wondered if this outputs 100-120v? If so I could make a cable to plug straight into the Sun AC amp up plug

There’s also the option of piggy backing the 100-120v inside the cab for the CRT but looking for the path of least resistance literally!

Other alternatives are an ATX but I’ve heard mixed reviews when using this for Netdimm as it requires a bit more juice to keep stable.

So anyone know if that plug socket on back of Astro is a 100-120v output?


And anyone using an ATX for this set up and recommend where to get a suitable one?

There's an Amp UP socket on the PSU inside the Astro mate, you can get 100v output from that.
There should be a sticker on the PSU showing the pinouts.

The correct size male/female Amp UP connectors and a couple of crimp pins are all that's needed, pretty sure thats how I powered the Mame PC in the Astro that I sold you. The Sun PSU uses Amp UP connectors too, so it's relatively straightforward to make a little loom.

Here's a pic showing how I power a Mame PC in one of my dusty Astros.
The connector is circled, and the pinout sticker is on the back of the PSU.

There are multiple versions of PSU, so yours may be different, but they all should have a spare 100v out socket.

I think it's a 100v output to daisy chain cabs together, you could use that but using the output from the PSU is the cleanest solution.

I've been warned against separate PSUs (not those cute little ones that daisychain) in a PC ... what makes 'dueling cabs' different to that?

I think it's a 100v output to daisy chain cabs together, you could use that but using the output from the PSU is the cleanest solution.

I'm guessing that the warnings were around the power that's coursing through everything that is connected electronically in other ways is at least all coming from the same source. But ... I do not know what I'm talking about ... heh.

You've stated that one COULD use the same power supply, but you recommend using a separate one. I'm trying to see why that's advisable, over using the same one. As ... I would obviously prefer to use the same one.

And the solution is to get that 100v to power the Sun PSU from the 100v passthrough socket on the PSU, or the passthrough socket on the cab itself.

In that case, I suppose all that's needed to know is whether the transformer in a single cab is capable of transforming for two, right?

I think he’s saying that it’s just basically like having a 2 gang extension cord. I imagine in arcades the logic was that they’d have a whole row of cabs and rather than needing loads of wall sockets or a load of extensions/adapters the manufacturers just put an external socket on the cabs. The ancillary socket is at the 100-120v level before it reaches the internal PSU at all.

Obvious saves you having to buy additional step down converters for each cab here in the Uk which is something I never even considered!

Yeh I get ATX psu from my tip for free, só
I opt for a Separate 240v into my Naomi jamma cab to power mine,

Incase your sun psu gives you grief you can run on uk 240v ATX psu to Naomi and jamma power to your Capcom io for its sound amp too .


Naomi is simple because 240v goes inside the cab to the rectifier .

Astro though needs some thinking to get 240 in unless you have room for a airlink inside the cab then feed your 240v out the back .

Do for the 110v in the astro
