Yeah didn't happen, at least not today. I'll be in touch soon though :)

Whats up with the Tempest dude?

No problem at all, it's here when you can make it.

I can't remember how far I got with the Tempest, it's that long ago. Originally it had a black screen and played blind. After a while it ended up not booting up at all. I got one of the LV kits for the monitor, hoping it might bring it to life so I could at least see what the fault was. It didn't help. If I get the chance I'll power it up again this week and make notes of its current state.

Maybe I could help you out here, I can repair PCBs and WG6100's.

It is indeed! I'm totally stoked about this, I love the game! Now I'll get a chance to hone my skills. Be a long long time before I'm at your level Mr Skywalker!

Woohoo! Excited about this! In 3 weeks I'll be in possession of a very nice, fully working original Atari Star Wars upright!!! Yesssssss!

Another plus to this (hopefully) is I can use the monitor to help diagnose my Tempest, which used to play blind, and now does nothing.

I can't wait!

Jase, take care using your nice SW monitor to test a faulty Tempest. A dodgy Tempest board can easily damage a nice working monitor (ask me how I know). You're best off testing the XY outputs on a oscilloscope before putting it anywhere near a working monitor.

Nice score on the SW btw :)

Just the kind of advice I needed (which is why I mentioned it!)

Thanks for the heads up on that, I really don't need to kill a colour XY monitor!!

PS - please tell me how you know!

What happened? I'm interested, from a tech point of view.

I know because I did a similar thing. I bought some untested Tempest sets back when I was first collecting, tested them with the everything still plugged in and "let out the magic smoke" on a monitor. One of the XY lines was putting out way too much voltage/current and pop went the monitor.

Nice one Russ - I'll have to arrange with you to meet up when things are less hectic round here! Work's keeping me tied up, and I have lots going on at home (having a revamp - part of which will be showcased on here
