I have an original Atari VCS ‘heavy sixer’ and would very much like to play a few of my old games again on the original hardware instead of through emulation.
Unfortunately I cannot seem to get it working well enough to do so - connecting to a modern tv via the rf socket and doing a scan of analogue channels gets me a picture with loads of interference and no sound on Channel 36 which is no good to me.
I see my options as being…
Buy an old portable tv - there are none for sale nearby and they seem to have shot up in price to ridiculous amounts now .
Use an old vcr between the Atari and tv - again, expensive but also not sure how well it would work
Do a composite mod - looks easy enough but as I have a very rare machine I would rather not be modding it!

So, anyone got any advice or opinions? Are there any suitable adapters or converters? I did try a usb powered arial signal booster but that completely blocked the signal for some reason.
The ideal scenario would be to find a model of reasonably modern 20 inch flat screen tv that would work well with it but don’t want to buy a tv only to find it doesn’t work better than the one I have already…
