At my little boys nursery they have what looks like a big 32” iPad on wheels that the kids use for various touch based education apps.
Having done a little research there are a few companies that make these devices for kids and schools. They retail for about 3k to 4k.
I have been thinking about trying to build my own.
A small Android box with connection to the Google Play Store would get most of the apps.
The screen itself is probably a touch enabled monitor but I wondered about how well it would work to get a touch screen overlay, or an IR based frame to go around the tv.
It would need to be very low latency to work well and support multi touch.
I know some of you build your own cabs, PCs, custom arcade hardware. What do you think?
Any recommendation for how to build a nice responsive touchscreen android box that would also be kid proof without spending thousands?
