Does the login cookie that ukvac gives my browser expire after a certain time period?

I only ask as I always tell it to remember me when logging in, but I still notice every 2-3 days that I have to log in again. This is on Firefox 5 (no it's not called FailFox, Mr Timmy Chrome boy

) and iOS Safari.

None of that should be happening, but you can't blame the universe if it hates you for not using the One True Browser

I've just PMd you my email address. Could you get a cookie browser for IE or FF and view the details for your ukvac.com cookie and send me a copy of the text? It should have an expiry date in there somewhere which should be waaaaaay off into the future but sounds like it isn't.

Also, are you logged into the forum on any other device? Mobile, iPad, anything like that?

Hmm. Actually, as of now I'm using FF6, not 5. I forgot Mozilla have now adopted Google's gay system of releasing a "major" new update every half an hour, cos version 86 sounds better than version 2.45. Bloody americans!

cheers, will pm you over the cookie later. I do frequent the site from my iphone too (using wankfari). No Firefox for iOS sadly, as Apple are tw@ts.

Chrome-recent (W7x64) keeps me logged in and I've never had any issues. I'm also logged in via my iPad and iPhone simultaneously and never have problems.

Danny - I've just made a change. Can you let me know whether you have the problem again or if it's still working by the start of next week please?

I can't help it if some people still haven't seen The Light! And thusly will be going to rootkit or so-slow-it's-made-out-of-lego hell :D The rules say I have to help heathens too!

Oh, and I don't think this is actually a browser issue

Bloody hell. Dorset nearly floated off into the english channel yesterday with all the rain we had.

Anyway, back to cookies. Tim, I hadn't sent you my cookies (oh matron!), as I suddenly realised it might've been me being a helmet (been using the quick login recently, which doesn't seem to cookie me up at all). So I tried the proper login on Weds and left it for a couple of days, but still had to log in again this morning.

I'll monitor it again over the weekend and get those cookies sent over to you - just to check though, there are several, do you know which one(s) you need out of the following?

WWF9sLID
WWF9sID
ASPSESSIONIDQSACRQD
_utma
_utmb
_utmc
_utmz
WWF9lVisit

cheers fella

Having to login again this morning is a good sign as you should be now logged in with a persistent cookie. Just so long as it doesn't ask you to login again around Sunday/Monday.

Ideally I could do with all the elements of the cookie, but I'm reasonably sure I know what caused this so you can hold off till next week sending if you like?

cheers

Just had this again Tim, it was fine earlier, then had to reboot my work laptop after installing some new RAM. First site I loaded up after rebooting was ukvac (I am at work after all), and it asked me to log in.

BUT - exactly the same also happened with that certain other arcade collector's forum that rhymes with 'hammer pus'. So maybe it's my browser settings, although I checked and I've only got it set to delete d/load history and cache when closing.

Do you still want me to send you over those cookies, or do you think they're irrelevant now?

Ok, ignore that last post actually. Whatever I (or my laptop) did, nuked ALL my cookies. Google, Youtube, even my weather location on BBC. So I think we can safely say the problem isn't with ukvac.

Hokay dude. Now you're back logged in I guess it should either crap out by the end of the weekend or if it's ok then it's fixed. I've had a look at the logs and can't see anything weird, so if you're still good by the end of the w/e then I'll explain what I did and how others who are affected can sort themselves out.

Thanks for the updates!

cheers
