database hack?

I just clicked on 'my profile' as seen by others..

And was shocked to find under 'My Interests' a URL for http://www.jammaplus.com

I have deleted it just now, i have no idea how long its been there, possibly years? But how was that possible? is this a single account hack (mine) or is it a database hack?

I guarantee you my password is a nonsensical string of upper and lower case letters/numbers/characters, it can't be guessed or brute-forced, so how was the hack possible?

also, no matter how many times i tried to set a new password in my profile, it errored out saying i didn't type it properly... i'm pasting from the clipboard and there should be no reason that it wont take my old password?? i ended up logging out, and clicking 'forgot password' to get a new one...

Nope, not me. I only do amusing Member Title edits and I leave a note in the mod comments field.

I've got a pretty good idea who would have done that but I was going to raise it in the staff section first.

No need to be worried at all. There was no unauthorised access and no elevation of privilege; just someone who used their access to do something unfunny. This would have been done quite some time ago as the individual concerned hasn't had any rights at all for a long while.

I have fully investimagated this and after a broad and deep examinagation

of the facts I can conclude:

1. Member Titles are changed by a ghost in the machine,
2. The Member Title virus left a comment stating that the RAMpack was indeed from an earlier model of Sinclair but it sounded nice so was being used,
3. Now you've spotted it you can PM me with what you want it changed to and it may happen
