Hi Everyone, I need some Donkey Kong Help.

I am moving house, myself and a few friends tried moving the Donkey Kong machine down stairs. It went up but for some reason we can’t get it down. We tired for about a hour and tried again. The machine sadly now has some damage to the corners, t-molding, sides and bottom now, my plastic wrapped didn’t hold up well. It’s very bad in places. We tired to be careful but it’s heavy.

I am waiting for my carpenter to remove the stair banisters so I can get the machine out. My stair banisters somehow has moved 15cm which is causing us the problem. (Needs to be replaced anyway as it’s safety issue)

I was wondering when I get it down stairs.
(No date yet)
Would it be possible to send the machine to someone to repair it and go through all the electronics inside too.

I love this machine too much to lose it, despite the problem it’s caused me. Sadly doing it myself is way beyond my ability.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction to get this sorted. I don’t know anyone that repairs these in the UK.
I will pay for this service too. Please don’t read this thinking I am after something for nothing. Hoping for someone to help me on this.

It’s an oddball thing to get fixed and not many people want to touch it.

Hope to hear from all fellow UKVAC guys

Many thanks & kind regards
Ryan

(Photo attached it before we moved it)
I have re-wrapped it.

Aluminium plates, polythene, clamps, and a mixture of resin based wood glue and sawdust. It works a treat for filling holes and rebuilding corners.

Better to watch some YouTube videos and do it yourself with bondo/colour match paint. Would cost a fortune to pay someone as there’s a few hours involved and need all the tools/materials.

Some of the damage due to taking it down stairs. I’ve found a company that I hope can help me get this fixed.

Yes that’s is what I meant to say. Absolutely gutted about this. Probably wasn’t the best idea to take it up stairs but what is done is done.
I just hope I can find someone to fix it.
We tried our best to be careful but it does feel like it weighs a ton.

The most annoying thing it went up completely fine but as the stair banister has moved overtime it won’t come down. While we were attempting taking it down we didn’t measure anything as it went up fine. i feel quite bad about this as I am all about preserving gaming history and i wanted to keep this forever.

I found a company called Retro Arcade Specialists UK LTD. I am waiting to hear back from them to see if they can help.

Cheers to everyone for there support, feed back and suggestions.

Holy shit!

What a shame, there's bit of work there.

Removing the monitor would have made the move so much easier.

Let us know how it goes, good luck.

Not sure how confident you are about getting your hands inside the cabinet, but next time remove the monitor, control panel and coin box before moving it. You'll be surprised at how much difference that will make.

Man with Van to the rescue 😂, I am still looking too.

I don’t mind where it goes as long it’s to someone who can repair it. My StarGate came to my house from Bucks County, Pennsylvania without an issue. Great Yarmouth is easy.
