Before Covid, I ran a retro games club in the local library. It was basically a collection of aging consoles and CRTs, provided by myself and some other guys. There was a small fee to get in, which gave you access to the games, and competitions - with prizes, as well as a donut and a can of coke (healthy and special dietary requirement stuff was also available!). The main events were on Saturday afternoons and aimed at kids, but we also trialled a beer and games night for grown ups. It all went very well, and we managed to raise a fair bit of cash for the library, which is now run by a local charity, since the council removed funding.

Now Covid restrictions are no more, there's been talk of starting it up again. However, as much as the new library committee is enthusiastic about it, they also want everything PAT tested in accordance with their insurance policy. This would mean no more impromptu 'show and tell' sessions, where folks brought along a console and plugged it in. It would also mean a jolt being sent through my ageing and fragile gaming gear. Given the number of things involved, I imagine it would also be quite expensive. Now, I have no problem with CRTs and similar equipment being tested like this. But I'm in two minds about having my consoles zapped with high voltages. What if kills them?

What do you guys think? Does anyone have any experience of this kind of thing? Am I fretting unnecessarily about the zapping? Are there alternative types of insurance? Any advice appreciated!
