Bought a modded psp a few years back, seller wanted to meet in a car park on an industrial estate. Didn't think too much of it until I got there and there were two Herberts sat in a blacked out piece of crap Audi. When they got out it was like every cliche you could imagine, tracksuits, hoods etc. Fortunately there were also big smiles and a psp box, went though all the bits in there, spoke about piracy and then we all left happy. Did make me think afterwards though...

I have, at a motorway service station to buy a TV from the back boot of a car.

The couple selling it turned out to be really lovely. Both were mute so they couldn’t speak, the transaction was done using gestures and lip reading.

This was about 8 years ago now, the TV is still working great.
Last year I met a seller a service station to buy a 20" Sony PVM. He seemed like a nice bloke, we were chatting about how he used to play F-Zero with his son etc. On the drive home I realised I didn't even bother to check in the box, I had just put it in the car and left :(

I was pretty sure I would have two breeze blocks and some cardboard when I got home. Luckily the PVM was in there and it turned out to be a good experience. Goes to show though meeting strange men at a service station can be fraught with danger.
