Every Christmas my mum always asked what do you want ?
Most years I had to look in the Argos catalog for ideas, but on a couple of occasions I knew what I wanted.

My top five Xmas presents of the 80s

Most of mine were computer based, let's face it, I wouldn't do what I do today without.

Most anticipated was probably the Dragon 32. Before that, the ZX81. Two awesome Xmas presents. Can't really remember the others.

A few of my faves that I can remember getting :-

Defo would have had the same rubber keyed Speccy at No1 though :)

Then I got this in Christmas '88. But I had to sell nearly all of the above and loads, loads more stuff (including all 117 Star Wars figures

) myself to pay half of the cost.......

I absolutely loved the Amiga for the next 3 years, however I still have that now and it's worth bugger all. If only I still had all the stuff I flogged to be able to get it.

Nice thread - nostalgia in abundance!!

1. No doubt this was present of the 80s - the legend began for me Xmas '82/'83

16k+spectrum.png

2. Loved Tamiya BITD. Mine was second hand, but this has almost equal legend status as the Speccy for me. Always wanted a NIB kit but my folks could never afford one (so I built my mates kit instead

)

3. This gave a shot in the arm to the good old Speccy in the late eighties - less multiloads and more speech!! (ooh you HAD to have a Multiface too

)

4. Anything and everything I had with the LEGO logo on it (some examples)

5. Any other time during the 80s was spent playing or watching football in some way or the other. I think I got this for Xmas..

Anyone remember TCR or something like that?

It was a racing set that competed with Scalextric. I was so envious of my mate when he got this even though I had a scalextric that would go right round a 16' x 16' room.

I also liked the matchbox car tracks at the "gun" that you could shoot the cars out of to do the loop the loop.

I also loved Mastermind, Evel Knieval and my Eagle Eyes Action Man with the Kung Fu grip!!

Thinking about it though, many of those toys may have been from the 70's :/

Cheers,

Ralph.

Cool topic! I get mixed up between the 70's & 80's though

The Speccy was also a firm favourite like many people.
I loved technical lego, electronic kits, and electronics labs too!
Ok here's a few that made a big impression on me (again might be 70's)...
