I'm aware this isn't strictly MAME, but it's emulation. I'm aware how to hook up a mister via a jpac and have watched a few videos, but I'm wondering if there is any sort of frontend for the mister and how good the experience is if anyone has tried it on here? With the cps1 core on the way I'm wondering if it's worth it yet or best to stick with Groovy Mame for now.

Mist is way more limited in terms of supported platforms. I see it as a replacement for hardware based multi-game conversions e.g. Darksoft rather than a replacement for MAME.

Mist has low input lag, but FWIW a well-setup MAME (frame delay & portaudio) is also pretty good in terms of input & audio lag.

I would expect MAME to be as good or better in terms of visual/sound accuracy, depending on the system being emulated. There will always be exceptions I guess.

Startup time is probably better on Mist, but a decent Groovymame system with fast SSD will get to menu within 30 seconds and be very fast to load games too.

Yes I've seen a IO board that plugs onto the DE10 and connects direct to the Jamma Edge

not sure where I saw it now!

but a nice front end may be possible im not sure though it can sit above the cores and not get in the way.

but the built in one works nice enough with a cab :)
