Will no doubt open up a can of worms for people this, but is anyone clued up on house insurance and the use of garages for things other than "garage stuff".

I've seen a fair few people throw up stud walls with insulation in an attached garage, without doing "a proper" garage conversion as really they've not needed to for their actual purpose, meaning it's a garage, with some stud walls 🤷‍♂️

How do I insurers view these setups? May be wrong but years ago you we're covered for an allowance for garage stuff from a fire and theft perspective, but do they look at it differently in this scenario? All you've technically done is make the garage a little warmer and more comfortable? Where's the line drawn?

having had to make 2 pretty big claims in my lifetime, i would expect any insurance company to do their very very best wriggle out of any sort of claim

one loss adjuster was treating us like a criminal, another was absolutely fantastic, the insurance company actually tried to send another loss adjuster because they werent happy with his figures
