Morning all,

My garage conversion continues to plod onwards.

The patio doors are in, the partition separating the 'proper' garage
from my games room is in, the floors are down, and so are most of the
batons on the walls.

Now, I have a quick question, and I'm hoping that someone here may be
able to suggest something.

When I put my wooden walls up I'm going to have a slight air pocket
between the outer garage wall, and the wooden walls inside, as they'll
be separated with the batons. I could just leave the air pockets
there, but it gives me an opportunity to try and insulate the room
that bit better. Plus, it'll help stop some of the noise escaping and
annoying the neighbours

I've looked into sandwiching roof insulation into the gap, but it's
far, far too thick. I need something that's thin, and a good heat/
sound insulation. Polystyrene tiles would probably be ideal, but I
don't know how cheap they are.

Any suggestions?

Rob

p.s - Any chance of someone uploading a selection of photos from the
recent meet?

Something like thin sheets of 'Kingspan' maybe ?

Search one ebay, there are sellers who have 'seconds' quality stuff.

Cheers, Colin

Hi,

You may also be able to use foam floor tiles (mats), the sort of foam
floor tiles that are often sold in discount stores (the same type as
the ones that have the alphabet cut outs and interlock – you can get
larger ones that are 2 x 2 without the letter cutouts).

Regards,

Paul.
