Good to see new coinops in the UK

I know nothing beats the classic Golden Age arcade games, but I find it encouraging that there are still new games being made and available for play here in the UK. I spotted these three at the arcades by Whitby harbour North Yorks.

Me playing Batman. It's kind of cross between Chase HQ and Roadblasters.

Super Alpine Racer. Plays like the first two except you have to go through boost gates to finish the course, and you do stunts whenever you fly off a ramp into the air. And you still look stupid playing it! MASSIVE vertical screen.

Transformer Human Alliance. Put a few quid into this. It's a decent on rails shooter, and reminds me of Gunblade NY. As well as all the shooting, there's kind of QTEs where you have to press the start button at the correct time. Big cockpit.

They also had some new-ish games in there, such as Guitar Hero Arcade and Dead Heat. And Time Crisis II is still going strong, god bless it!

I played the Batman racer a few months back and can honestly say I hated it. It just felt like I wasn't in control of anything, had no idea what was going on, and it eat my pound real quick.

The cabinet was nice to look at but it sucked big time! Don't know what other peoples experiences with it have been though....

Transformers looks like lets go jungle.
A game I was mad to play then I played it it was utter tripe!

Yes, I only put a pound into Batman and was not impressed. I couldn't work out what was hitting me! It's a shame that the operators charge £1 a game now, but I suppose they have a lot of money to recoup on them.

They charge a pound and if it's crap then that will be the only go you have

If it was 30p a go, you'll probably stick a quid in and have a few goes, maybe put more in, so it's not always gonna get you more money in the end

I think some reissues of old classics would go down well, maybe with updated graphics. Q*Bert immediately springs to mind as I've been playing it so much, especially after getting a bit of attention in Wreck-It Ralph. I think there already is a new version on mobile.

I personally don't like these new games as operators get rid of many good games and replace it with one poor game...

Of all the "modern" stuff,I do love the Terminator Salvation deluxe that is down our local cinema. Full size plasma rifles that you reload by slamming the cartridge clip. When they get down to a sensible price, I'll be having one off them

I only played it once due to the fact that I didn't fancy a hip replacement any time soon!
